FAQ
WHAT IS THE GREAT BATH PUB CRAWL?
One thing it isn’t is a marathon drinking session, with visits to as many pubs as possible. We start and end at a pub, and visit one or two others on the way round. And while our stories are true (as far as we know), the tour is more like a stand-up routine than a history lesson.
On the Great Bath Pub Crawl, we aim to give you an insight into Bath’s history that is generally forgotten—the history of the ordinary people that lived, drank—and sometimes died—in Bath’s inns and alehouses. It’s a relaxed stroll through the narrow streets of the old city, where coaches and buses can’t go. As well as drinking in Bath’s hidden history, you get the chance to drink some local ales, brewed by craft brewers using techniques that have hardly changed for centuries.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
One advantage we have over other tours is that, when it rains, we spend more time in the pub, telling you stories of Bath’s bibulous past, rather than standing on some windswept corner or huddled in somebody’s doorway. We can’t promise to keep you dry, but at least you’ll have plenty of chance to dry off (while getting wet inside, of course).
** IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2007 **
We are no longer running the nightly Great Bath Pub Crawls throughout the summer as we have done for the last five years.
Private tours, however, can be arranged at any time. Minimum charge is £45.
For visitors who want to discover the best of what Bath's pubs have to offer, conference delegates, team builds, special occasions, a personalised Great Bath Pub Crawl will be a night - or an afternoon - to remember.
Starting and finishing times, as well as timing of walks, can be arranged to suit you.
